The Acer Predator Atlas 8 is a handheld gaming PC with an 8 inch, 1920 x 1200 pixel IPS LCD touchscreen display with up to 120 Hz variable refresh rate, support for up to 24GB of LPDDR5x-7467 memory, and up to a 1TB PCIe 4.0 NVMe SSD.But what really sets it apart from an ever-growing list of gaming handhelds is that this is one of the first models powered by Intel’s new Arc G-Series processors, which bring support for up to a 12-core Intel Arc B390 GPU to handhelds. Acer says its next handheld gaming PC should be available in October, with pricing to be revealed closer to release.At the heart of this system is either an Intel Arc G3 processor with 10-core Intel Arc B370 graphics or an Arc G3 Extreme chip with a 12-core Arc B390 iGPU. These are the same high-performance integrated GPUs used in Intel Core Ultra Series 3 “Panther Lake” chips like the Core Ultra 5 338, Core Ultra X7 368H and Core Ultra X9 388H. But the version used here has been optimized for handhelds.Acer says the Predator Atlas 8 also includes features like dual fans for cooling (one metal and one plastic), Corning Gorilla Glass Victus for a scratch and glare-resistance display, and stereo 2 watt speakers with DTS:X Ultra audio.Game controllers include adjustable trigger feedback (with a micro-switch mode and hall-effect analog sensor option), and the little computer is the first handheld to feature Acer’s PredatorSense Windows app for monitoring system stats, switching performance modes, and customizing RGB lighting effects, among other things. There’s a dedicated PredatorSense button for launching the app at any time, even while in the middle of a game. Acer Predator Atlas 8Other features include 60Wh and 80 Wh battery options, Intel Killer wireless with support for WiFi 7 and Bluetooth 5.4, two Thunderbolt 4 ports, a microSD card reader, and a 3.5mm audio jack. The handheld comes with a 65W power adapter.It measures 299 x 127.4 x 58.4mm (11.8″ x 5″ x 2.3″) at its thickest point, and has a starting weight of 770 grams (1.7 lbs) for a model with a 60 Wh battery or 810 grams (1.79 lbs) for versions with an 80 Wh battery.
