PMK leader Anbumani Ramadoss on Thursday urged the Tamil Nadu government to stop the proposed 13.3-km elevated corridor project between Thiruvanmiyur and Uthandi on East Coast Road and cancel the contract awarded to KNR Constructions, alleging irregularities in the tender process. In a statement, Dr. Anbumani claimed although another company had offered to execute the project for ₹1,400 crore, around ₹700 crore less than KNR Constructions’ bid of ₹2,100 crore, the contract was awarded to KNR without justification, causing a loss to the public exchequer. The PMK leader also alleged the project had faced legal scrutiny and corruption allegations from the beginning. He urged the State government to halt the works and order an inquiry into the alleged irregularities linked to the project. Published - May 28, 2026 06:31 pm IST
