Like in West Bengal, Assam and Maharashtra, the BJP will come back to power in Karnataka by winning majority of seats, said Prahlad Joshi, the former State BJP President and Union Minister for Consumer Affairs, Food and Public Distribution, and New and Renewable Energy, in Mangaluru on Thursday.Talking to reporters on the sidelines of the event in which Mata Amritaanandamayi is participating, Mr. Joshi said there will not be any change with D.K. Shivakumar becoming the Chief Minister and it will continue the appeasement politics and corrupt practices followed by Siddaramaiah government. The BJP will come to power not because of poor governance of the Congress government. With guidance of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, the BJP will come to power in Karnataka on the basis of positive development oriented actions. The party is confident of getting good number of seats in the forthcoming Assembly elections in the State.Mr. Joshi criticised Congress leader Rahul Gandhi for bad treatment of Siddaramaiah and asking him to resign. The way the then Prime Minister Rajiv Gandhi badly treated Veerendra Patil and asked him to resign from the post of Chief Minister, Rahul Gandhi has similarly forced OBC leader Siddaramaiah to resign as Chief Minister. Siddaramaiah was the only Chief Minister from the OBC community and in all the remaining three Congress-ruled States, a forward community member is the Chief Minister. Rahul Gandhi speaks a lot about betterment of OBC community but has treated Siddaramiah badly, he said.On the hike in price of petrol and diesel, Mr. Joshi said such a global crisis has not been faced by countries earlier. The Congress was taking political mileage of the crisis. The conduct of Congress party was like lighting ‘Beedi’ from the fire that is burning the house, he said. Published - May 28, 2026 06:37 pm IST
