The Ukrainian government is allocating an additional Hr.10.8 billion ($244 million) for weapons procurement and the development of the country’s defense industry, Prime Minister Yuliia Svyrydenko said on Thursday, May 28. Another nearly Hr.2 billion ($45 million) will support the expansion of Ukraine’s defense-industrial complex, including scaling up production and rapidly integrating new battlefield technologies. “More weapons for the Ukrainian military,” Svyrydenko wrote. The prime minister said the funds were accumulated through personal income tax revenues, as well as licensing fees collected from gambling businesses and lotteries. “All domestic resources are being directed toward supporting the Defense Forces,” she said. Svyrydenko also praised Ukraine’s military engineers and arms manufacturers, saying they are carrying out a “real technological revolution” recognized by both allies and Russia. “The government is doing everything possible to support these changes and help rapidly scale new technologies,” she added.
