Not worth the stress or losing another pair."What do people need to know?While rules may vary between airlines, Ryanair has specific regulations people need to follow when it comes to travelling with scissors. Little you may know, some should never be placed in your hand luggage, and there's good reason why.The Ryanair website states: "The following items must not be carried on board, but may be carried as part of your checked baggage. Objects with a sharp point or sharp edge capable of being used to cause serious injury, including scissors with blades of more than 6cm, as measured from the fulcrum."Generally, you can bring small scissors in your hand luggage if the blade measures 6cm or less from the pivot point; however, rules may differ between airlines and airports. What you need to know is any scissors with blades longer than 6cm must go in your checked luggage.Article continues belowSome airlines may allow round-ended or blunt scissors, but passengers need to be careful when packing. The reason the rule is in place, as Ryanair states, is that authorities classify them as sharp objects that could be used as weapons.To maintain strict cabin security, passengers are banned from carrying key items in their hand luggage.
