A Jewish couple was attacked in broad daylight in downtown Santa Monica, California, after a man allegedly chased them, shouted antisemitic remarks, threatened them with a baseball bat and sicced his dog on one of them, causing minor injuries.

Local police are examining whether the incident was a hate crime.

In a video posted on social media, however, the attacker can clearly be heard shouting “genocide,” and the couple were attacked against an antisemitic backdrop.

The incident first reported on Wednesday night took place Sunday in the late afternoon near a well-known shopping area.

According to Santa Monica police, the suspect, identified as Tar Nay, stopped his car while driving on Broadway and threatened two people who were crossing the street.
