With only 48 hours left before the deadline for the conclusion of party primaries ahead of the 2027 presidential election, political activities across Nigeria have intensified as six political parties officially confirmed their presidential candidates, setting the stage for what is already shaping into a fiercely contested race for Aso Rock.

The early emergence of candidates comes amid growing coalition talks, internal party tensions, and mounting pressure on parties yet to conclude their primaries before the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) deadline.

The confirmed candidates emerged after primary elections conducted in different parts of the country, as political parties race to comply with the timetable released by INEC.

The development signals the beginning of a new phase in the political contest, with parties now shifting focus toward nationwide consultations, alliance-building, and preparations for full-scale campaigns.

Among the parties that have successfully concluded their primaries are major opposition platforms and emerging political movements seeking to challenge the dominance of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) and other established parties in the 2027 general election.
