The ousted chairman of BP has hit back again at ‘lies’ told by colleagues after complaining he was fired ‘without warning’.
Albert Manifold was abruptly removed from the oil giant’s board on Tuesday after just six months in the job due to what BP said were ‘serious concerns’ over his conduct.
It later emerged that this included ‘bullying’ and ‘overbearing behaviour, which on Wednesday he said was a ‘false narrative’.
In another statement this morning, Manifold said that while he accepted the board had made the decision, ‘What I do not accept is that lies can be told about me, nor that anyone should be allowed to hide behind anonymity when commenting on my time at BP.’
It is understood that concerns related to Manifold’s alleged 'aggressive' behaviour towards junior and senior staff, which was judged to be inappropriate.
