Rep. Thomas Massie (R-KY) appeared to swap politics for deep-sea fishing this week, posting a video of himself reeling in a sailfish alongside former Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene after losing Kentucky‘s Republican primary to a candidate backed by President Donald Trump.Massie posted the video on X Wednesday with the caption “America First Pacific Summit Retreat,” showing himself aboard a fishing charter with Greene while reeling in a large sailfish in what appeared to be a tropical destination. The post follows Massie losing his bid for reelection in Kentucky’s 4th Congressional District to Trump-endorsed Ed Gallrein, ending the libertarian-leaning Republican’s 14-year tenure in Congress.

The outing underscored the unlikely political alliance that emerged between Massie and Greene in recent months as both increasingly found themselves at odds with Trump despite once being viewed as close allies of the president’s political movement.

Greene, who resigned from Congress earlier this year, publicly supported Massie during his bruising primary and defended him after Trump escalated attacks on the Kentucky Republican.

Massie drew Trump’s ire after voting against the One Big Beautiful Bill Act last year, his willingness to work with Democrats to force the Justice Department to release the Epstein files, as well as his criticism of the U.S. war against Iran. Trump eventually endorsed Gallrein and campaigned aggressively for Massie’s seat.
