MANILA, Philippines — Manila Water has reinforced its system-wide readiness to ensure continuous water supply and reliable service delivery across its East Zone concession area ahead of the anticipated severe El Niño.
Even prior to the official declaration of the expected dry spell, the company had already put in place a comprehensive suite of operational, infrastructure, and customer engagement measures designed to maintain supply resilience despite prolonged periods of reduced rainfall and potential strain on traditional water sources.
The company continues to diversify and strengthen its water sources to reduce dependence on Angat Dam, which typically experiences a significant reduction during dry seasons.
A key element of this strategy is the full integration of alternative raw water sources, including the Upper Wawa Dam and the Tayabasan Weir, both of which are exclusively managed and utilized by Manila Water. Combined, these sources can supply up to 710 million liters per day (MLD), providing critical augmentation to the system.
