NewsUK NewsGolders GreenA 41-year-old Iranian man was rushed to hospital with life threatening injuries, police have confirmed in the wake of the shocking incidentRachel Vickers-Price UK and World News Reporter00:53, 28 May 2026Updated 00:53, 28 May 2026A man is fighting for life in hospital after he was seemingly mowed down by a car in Golders Green after a row broke out in the street.The Metropolitan Police were called to the north London suburb just before 8.30pm amid reports that a car had run down a man in NW11.Within minutes, officers from the Met Police were at the scene alongside Shomrim volunteers and both Hatzola and London Ambulance paramedics.A 41-year-old man, an Iranian national, was rushed to hospital with life threatening injuries.Police arrested a 39-year-old Iraqi man in connection with the incident.The man was arrested on suspicion of causing grievous bodily harm, causing serious injury by dangerous driving, and failing to provide a drugs sample. He remains in police custody and enquiries are ongoing.It comes after around 100 firefighters were called to battle a huge blaze behind a Jewish supermarket in Golders Green, earlier in the day.Police have advised the public that tonight's attack is not being treated as terrorism, with the investigation instead being led by officers from the Met's Serious Collision Investigation Unit.Met Police Detective Chief Superintendent Luke Williams, who leads on policing in north west London, said:"We know that this incident will cause significant concerns in the local community and residents can expect a continued police presence throughout the night," he said."Detectives are working quickly to establish the circumstances and I would urge anyone with information to get in touch with us.Article continues below"We are aware of videos circulating on social media, appearing to show the collision and those involved.
