A vision impaired man who relies on taxis to get to work says a drop in the transport subsidy next month means he may have to move closer to his workplace in Auckland.

More than 120,000 elderly and disabled people rely on government transport subsidies through the Total Mobilty scheme, which are dropping from 75 percent to 65 percent from July.

Disability advocates hope Thursday's Budget will include transport and housing support for the community.

Milton Paul travels across Auckland in the early hours of each weekday in a taxi, to avoid congestion on his way to work.
