Kano State Governor, Abba Kabir Yusuf, on Wednesday joined thousands of Muslim faithful at the historic Eid Ground in Kofar Mata for the Eid-el-Kabir prayers, with a renewed call for peace, unity and continued prosperity in the state.
The governor was accompanied by his deputy, Murtala SuleGar, senior government officials, traditional rulers and political leaders as worshippers gathered in large numbers to mark the annual Islamic festival.
The two-rakat Eid prayer was led by the 16th Fulani Emir of Kano, Muhammadu Sanusi II, who also delivered the Eid sermon, urging Muslims to embrace the values of sacrifice, compassion, tolerance and obedience to God, which the celebration symbolises.
The prayer session drew a massive turnout of residents from across the state, reflecting the significance of Eid-el-Kabir in the Islamic calendar and Kano’s long-standing tradition of communal worship during major religious festivities. Speaking after the prayers, Governor Yusuf congratulated Muslims on the occasion and called on citizens to sustain peaceful coexistence, support one another and remain committed to the development of the state.
