Former Deputy Senate President Ovie Omo-Agege has resigned from the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), days after losing the party’s Delta Central Senatorial District primaries ahead of the 2027 general elections.

In a resignation letter dated May 22, 2026, and addressed to the APC Ward Chairman in Orogun Ward 2, Ughelli North Local Government Area of Delta State, Omo-Agege announced that his decision takes “immediate effect.”

The senator, who represented Delta Central and served as Deputy President of the 9th Senate between 2019 and 2023, said recent developments within the APC in Delta State forced him to reconsider his continued membership of the party.

“After reviewing recent developments in the party in Delta State and consulting with my associates and supporters, it is clear my political objectives and those of my constituents are better served outside the APC,” the letter read.
