Lawrence Hollom, postdoctoral researcher at EPFL, has been awarded the 2026 Frontiers in Science Prize by the International Congress of Basic Science (ICBS) for a paper in Discrete Geometry and Graph Theory published in the European Journal of Combinatorics.The Frontiers in Science Prize is awarded by the International Congress of Basic Science (ICBS) to recognize outstanding research achievements from the past ten years in mathematics, physics, and information sciences and engineering. To be eligible, a work must be of the highest scientific value and originality, have made an important impact in its area, and have been evaluated and accepted by scholars in the field. The prize was announced on May 19, 2026.The 2026 prize recognizes the paper "The Bunkbed Conjecture is Not Robust to Generalisation," published in the European Journal of Combinatorics in 2025.Lawrence Hollom is a postdoctoral researcher at EPFL, working with Professor Marius Tiba. His research covers extremal, probabilistic, infinitary, and geometric combinatorics.
