Rory McIlroy's absence: McIlroy is not competing at the Charles Schwab Challenge because he has chosen to take a deliberate multi-week break from competitive golf.

This decision follows a highly intense stretch of tournament play that culminated in the second men's major championship of the season.

Reason explained: McIlroy confirmed that he wanted to take a couple of weeks completely off to rest and reset.

"I'm going to take a couple weeks off, and then Memorial will be my next one," McIlroy said after his final round at the PGA Championship.

Upcoming schedule: The Northern Irishman will make his return to competitive action at the Memorial Tournament hosted by Jack Nicklaus, which begins on June 4.
