The Bengaluru Traffic Police (BTP) hit the field early on Wednesday and conducted a special drive against helmetless riding during peak hours, booking a total of 4,617 cases across the city.Of the 4,617 cases, 3,084 pertained to riders not wearing helmets, while 1,533 cases involved pillion riders travelling without helmets. According to a BTP source, the drive was aimed at raising awareness among commuters that such violations are taken seriously.The drive comes after the city witnessed a high number of helmetless riding cases. In 2025, riding without a helmet and driving without a safety belt topped the list of traffic violations in Bengaluru.Among 28 different types of violations, riding without a helmet accounted for 29.09% of the total violations, followed by pillion riders without helmets (16.13%), wrong parking (15.97%), and driving without a safety belt (10.46%).
