Officials and medical staff from government hospitals identified as lagging in the delivery of quality healthcare services were summoned to Amaravati on Wednesday(May 27) for a performance review.The assessment was based on feedback collected through the Interactive Voice Response System (IVRS) from patients who visited the hospitals between April 25 and May 25.Separate workshops were conducted for hospitals under the Directorate of Medical Education (DME) and the Directorate of Secondary Health (DSH), during which officials were asked to explain poor performance indicators. Clarifications were also sought over doctors’ absence, negligence in duties, sanitation issues and other shortcomings in hospital administration.Health and Family Welfare Commissioner G. Veerapandian, addressing one of the workshops, warned that negligence in duties would not be tolerated. He said strict action would be taken, in line with the instructions of Health Minister Satya Kumar Yadav, if there was no improvement in performance.At the same time, the Commissioner appreciated the services rendered by top-performing government hospitals.Medical officers, Superintendents and health staff from across the State attended the two workshops.Director of Secondary Health K.V.N. Chakradhar Babu, DME G. Raghunandan and Additional DME Radhika Reddy reviewed the performance of individual hospitals and discussed measures being taken to address the identified issues.
