MANILA, Philippines — The debates over whether or not to allow online participation in Senate proceedings could later reach the Supreme Court (SC) if the minority group fails to block in the chamber.

This was according to Senate Minority Leader Vicente “Tito” Sotto III, a day after they blocked on Tuesday the majority group’s bid to tackle and decide on Sen. Rodante Marcoleta’s motion to allow a senator to participate remotely in the session.

Asked on Wednesday if they would consider elevating the matter to SC, Sotto said: “If we are not able to stop it.”

His colleagues in the new minority bloc staged a walkout when Senate President Alan Peter Cayetano pushed for a vote on their objection to take up Marcoleta’s motion in the plenary.
