Periyar University has proposed to conduct special examinations for students admitted to the Periyar Institute of Distance Education (PRIDE), now renamed as the Centre for Distance and Online Education (CDOE), and the University Industry Collaborative Programme (UICP), who have not completed their courses within the stipulated period of N+5 years, where “N” denotes the duration of the course.A press release from the university said students who studied in 2017 and earlier years will be permitted to write the examinations under the old syllabus. Candidates have to pay the prescribed examination fee along with a special fee of ₹2,000 per paper. Applications for the special examinations can be submitted through the online portal on the university website. The last date for submitting applications without penalty is June 25, 2026, while applications with late fee can be submitted till June 30, 2026.The printed and signed copy of the application should be submitted to the Controller of Examinations, Periyar University, Salem – 636011, on or before July 7, 2026. Only students who obtain a no dues certificate from the Director for CDOE and from the Director-DUIC for UICP will be permitted to appear for the special examinations, according to a release.
