Netherlands head coach Ronald Koeman has named his 26-man squad for this summer’s World Cup.Captain Virgil van Dijk will lead the side this summer but there is no space for his Liverpool team-mate Jeremie Frimpong after an injury-plagued first season at Anfield.There is a strong Premier League presence in the side, with 15 members of the squad playing their club football in England’s top flight.Liverpool have two further players included, with midfielder Ryan Gravenberch and forward Cody Gakpo receiving call-ups. Brighton & Hove Albion are another team to be represented by a trio of players, with goalkeeper Bart Verbruggen, centre-back Jan Paul van Hecke and the versatile Mats Wieffer all included.Manchester City’s Nathan Ake and Tijjani Reijnders have been named, as has Arsenal’s Jurrien Timber, who has not played since March due to a groin injury.Tottenham Hotspur defender Micky van de Ven has been selected but his team-mate Xavi Simons is not included, having suffered an anterior cruciate ligament tear in April. Mathijs de Ligt is also absent through injury after undergoing surgery for a back injury earlier this month. The Manchester United defender has not played since November.
