After spending three days in a provincial hospital in Gqeberha, Shaun Claasen shared a deeply personal account of gratitude, discomfort and concern that paints a troubling picture of conditions faced by patients in some public healthcare facilities.
While recovering during his stay, he said the compassion shown by medical staff allegedly stood in stark contrast to the condition of the ward itself.
Despite the challenges around him, he made a point of praising the healthcare workers who cared for him during what was clearly a difficult experience.
“Following my three-day stay, I want to thank the nursing staff for their care during my stay,” he said. “Also, the doctors and theatre staff.”
