Potters and farmers can take clay and silt free of cost from 321 waterbodies under the control of Water Resources and Rural Development Departments in Kanniyakumari district for making earthenware and nourishing the fields.In a statement, District Collector R. Alagumeena said potters can take clay and silt from 60 tanks in Agastheeswaram taluk, 54 in Thovaalai, 93 in Kalkulam, 30 in Thiruvattar, 65 in Vilavancode and 19 in Killiyoor for making earthenware and nutrifying the fields.Farmers having an acre of wetland can take 75 cubic metre silt or clay for nourishing the ranch while this permitted quantity will be 185 cubic metre for one hectare. For one acre of dry land, the permitted quantity is 90 cubic metre and 222 cubic metre for one hectare.
