New Love Island star Mica has some major showbiz connections as it's revealed that her aunt is the Prime Minister of Barbados and another relative starred in the iconic 80s show.11:44, 27 May 2026Updated 11:44, 27 May 2026Love Island is set to begin very soon and one of the islanders is rather well connected, with a relative from Only Fools and Horses and an aunt who is the Prime Minister of Barbados.Mica Harris, 21, is from Barbados, but lives in London and has a family full of politicians. It was revealed that Mica's aunt is Mia Mottley, the Prime Minister of Barbados, and Mica's grandfather and great-grandfather was also a high profile politician in the Caribbean island.Mica has shared many snaps of her family while in Barbados, also sharing a post announcing her aunt's success as her party won 30 out of 30 seats in parliament. "Unbelievably proud," Mica captioned a post highlighting the win.Mica's mother and aunt are cousins with the late actress, Eva Mottley who was best known for playing Corinne, Denzil’s wife, in Only Fools And Horses. Her character Corinne was introduced in an episode in which Denzil (played by Paul Barber) calls Del Boy (David Jason), Rodney (Nicholas Lyndhurst) and Grandad (Lennard Pearce) to paint his flat. During 'Who's a Pretty Boy?', her character was not overly pleased with the Trotters arriving to do the painting and decorating, saying of Del: "What the hell is he doing in my home."In the episode, Del famously replaces Corinne's already dead canary with one they buy from a pet shop, mistakenly thinking the paint fumes had brought a premature end to the bird's life. This family connection makes the late star Mica’s first cousin once removed. The pair would have never met Barbadian-born Eva as she took her life in 1985 at the age of 31.The TV star was also known for playing Bella O'Reilly in the 1983 TV drama Widows and another role in Bergerac, she also had a small role in the movie Superman III. During her brief time in the entertainment industry, Eva also was rumoured to have dated David Bowie for two years.Ahead of entering the villa, Mica has described her type: "'Definitely someone that’s tall, I’m tall myself so I like to feel small. I like a little bit of a buffer, a bigger guy. The most important thing for me is personality. I just want someone that will make me laugh. I want to get along with someone."She also explained exactly what she is not looking for: “I do not want a really egotistical, cringy man. That’s not my vibe at all. I can’t have someone who’s more into themselves then they are me. They need to be obsessed with me.”Speaking about her currently dating life she said: 'Honestly, it’s been quiet but it’s been peaceful. I’ve been trying to focus on myself and protect my peace. But as a strict programme for 2026, I’m not taking the bullsh*t I used to.'The 2026 lineup for the show was officially announced on Tuesday, and among the contestants are a detective, an electrician, a nurse, a quantity surveyor and DJ, a businessman, a school teacher, a real estate videographer, and a model. The series is just days away from starting, with a fresh batch of singletons hoping to find the love of their life in the Majorcan villa during the summer of love, and ITV is pulling out all the stops this year.Love Island kicks off next Monday at 9pm on ITV2Article continues belowLike this story?
