In today’s Nigerian newspapers review programme, Today in the News, Vanguard leads with controversies heralding the African Democratic Congress, ADC, presidential primaries, on Tuesday, as former Vice President Atiku Abubakar awaited official announcement as the winner, having beaten former Rivers State governor, Rotimi Amaechi, and economist, Mohammed Hayatu-Deen, in most states of the federation in the exercises held nationwide on Monday.

Another headline features President Bola Tinubu declaring that Nigeria’s difficult period of economic reforms was over, saying the dark days were over and light is here.

Vanguard also reports that the presidential candidate of the Social Democratic Party (SDP), Adewole Adebayo, criticised President Tinubu over the worsening security situation in the country, saying the President should resign if he cannot protect Nigerians.

Moving to the next paper, The Guardian leads with Nigeria’s opposition parties facing mounting internal turmoil ahead of 2027, as allegations of manipulated primaries, parallel leadership structures and rival presidential candidates heighten concerns over their cohesion, credibility and electoral readiness.
