France’s largest fuel retailer, TotalEnergies, has confirmed that its fuel price cap will remain in place throughout June at its 3,300 petrol stations nationwide.
Under the scheme, petrol (gasoline) prices will continue to be capped at €1.99 per litre, while diesel will remain capped at €2.25 per litre.
The group has also renewed its “fixed price” operation for the upcoming Mother’s Day and Father’s Day weekends, on May 30th-31st and June 20th-21st respectively (what's the connection here, you ask? Er dunno. But motorists don't have to provide proof that they have reproduced in order to benefit from the rate).
During those weekends, motorists across France will pay a flat rate of €1.99 per litre for petrol and €2.09 per litre for diesel, regardless of fluctuations in wholesale prices.
In a statement, TotalEnergies said the measure was intended “to support the traditional family gatherings that are important to the French”.
