The Nigeria Customs Service (NCS), Ogun Area Command, has intercepted military uniforms and a large consignment of cannabis valued at N259.68million along the Idiroko border corridor, raising fresh concerns over criminal impersonation and cross-border smuggling activities.

The Acting Customs Area Controller, Deputy Comptroller of Customs (DC) Oladapo Afeni, disclosed the development during a press briefing held at the Command’s headquarters in Idiroko.

Afeni said operatives acted on intelligence reports to intercept a luxury bus without a registration number, suspected to be conveying contraband items across the border route.

According to him, a search conducted on the vehicle uncovered military uniforms and high-grade cannabis concealed in cartons, suggesting what authorities described as a coordinated attempt capable of threatening national security.
