A BBC thriller that had viewers 'hooked' is apparently returning for a second series08:37, 27 May 2026An "addictive" BBC thriller that's perfect for Line of Duty fans could be returning very soon.‌Nightsleeper - which starred Peaky Blinders' Joe Cole and Sanditon's Alexandra Roach - won over viewers with its first series in 2024, and it has been reported that it will be back for a second run.‌According to TVZone, filming on the new series of the real-time drama is set to begin in Belfast in August.‌The BBC has been approached for comment.Nightsleeper premiered in 2024, and the six-part series saw a train ‘hackjacked’ and driven through one single night from Glasgow to London on an uncertain journey.Leading the fight were Joe Roag (Joe), a passenger who also happened to be a police officer, and Abby Aysgarth (Alexandra), the acting technical director at the National Cyber Security Centre.‌The cast also included The Bay's Sharon Small, James Cosmo from Jack Ryan, Alex Ferns of The Devil's Hour, and Lois Chimimba, known for her role in Vigil."Part fast-moving heart-in-mouth action-adventure and part twisty-turny whodunnit detective story, it’s a roller coaster drama where no one is ever quite who they seem," the BBC teased at the time.‌Nightsleeper won praise from critics, with one Den of Geek review calling it "addictive fun".A review in The Telegraph said it was "built for binge-watching" and that its cliffhangers were "the TV equivalent of rubber-necking".‌It also went down a storm with viewers, with one posting on Reddit: "I liked it, in that it kept me on the edge of my seat.""Reminds us of the original 24 show," said someone else.‌"A lot of fun to watch!" one person said on the review site Rotten Tomatoes.
