Fresh cracks have emerged within the crisis-ridden Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) after the Abdulrahman Mohammed-led faction on Tuesday announced Sandy Onor as its consensus presidential candidate for the 2027 general elections.
This is coming days after the rival Kabiru Turaki-led faction adopted former President Goodluck Jonathan as its preferred candidate for the same election.
The announcement, made at the party’s national secretariat in Abuja, further underscores the deepening leadership tussle and competing claims to authority within the opposition party ahead of the 2027 polls.
The announcement was made by former governor, Samuel Ortom, who chaired the PDP Presidential Primaries Collation Committee, during the collation and presentation of the party’s presidential primary results at Wadata Plaza, Abuja.
