Legendary tenor saxophonist Sonny Rollins, whose bold tone and relentless curiosity kept him at the forefront of jazz for more than five decades, has died at the age of 95.
His spokesperson, Terri Hinte, confirmed that he passed away at his home in Woodstock, New York.
While no specific cause of death was given, Rollins had been largely housebound in recent years due to health problems.
A teen prodigy who rose through the bebop ranks, Rollins was celebrated as one of the most influential saxophonists of his era, standing alongside Charlie Parker and John Coltrane.
