The Election Commission of India announced Wednesday that Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of voter rolls in Delhi will begin on June 20."The Commission has announced the third phase of SIR, which also includes Delhi. The activities for Delhi are scheduled to begin on June 20. There is a separate schedule, and different activities are planned under it. The timeline has been set by the Commission itself, and we will proceed accordingly by following that schedule," Delhi Chief Electoral Officer Ashok Kumar said.Under the SIR process, every elector will receive two enumeration forms, one copy of which will be held by the elector and the other will be submitted to the BLO after filling in the required details.“This process is currently underway, and this is an in-house procedure. It will continue until the 29th," Kumar added. The BLOs will begin house-to-house visits from June 30, wherein they will go door to door and provide two enumeration forms to each elector. The elector would be required to fill out the enumeration form.Once completed, they will have two options for submission - the voters can either submit it offline to the BLO or submit it online. If a voter chooses the offline mode, the BLO will provide an acknowledgement on the form itself.During the SIR process, EC will identify the following five categories to remove voters under ASDDF:'A' stands for Absent: Citizens who are not residing on the states address should not have their names remain on the list. The objective is that no eligible voter should be left out, and no ineligible voter should remain included. 'S' stands for Shifted: If someone was previously on Delhi’s electoral roll but has moved to another state, their name will no longer remain in Delhi’s voter list. 'D' stands for Deaths: Names of deceased persons will be removed. 'D' stands for Duplicate: Duplicate entries will also not be allowed.'F' stands for Foreign: Foreign nationals will not have their names included in India’s electoral rolls. "Only the genuine voters will have to fill out and submit their enumeration forms. If there is any doubt or discrepancy, the ERO will first publish a draft electoral roll. Notices will then be issued wherever discrepancies are found. After that, the final decision will be made," Kumar stated.Once the final decision is made, the citizens would have a provision for appeal in case of dissatisfaction."If any elector is not satisfied with the ERO’s decision, they can file an appeal before the DM/DO. And if they are still not satisfied with that decision, a second appeal can be made before the CEO," he informed.Political parties will also conduct a concurrent parallel audit in the Delhi SIR process. Political parties will to appoint BLAs. There are six recognised political parties in Delhi, and EC has held meetings with all six of them.
