With LIV Golf's future teetering on the brink with the impending withdrawal of funding from its Saudi Arabia backers, Bryson DeChambeau, one of the renegade tour's biggest stars, said Tuesday he was "very optimistic" about plans to keep his circuit afloat.

DeChambeau is the defending champion of this week's LIV Golf Korea, which will tee off Thursday for a four-day run at the Asiad Country Club in the southeastern city of Busan.

The tournament is taking place with LIV Golf's future in doubt. Public Investment Fund, the sovereign wealth fund of Saudi Arabia that launched LIV Golf in 2021, announced in late April that it will withdraw its funding after this season, having reportedly poured $5 billion into the venture. LIV Golf has since been trying to secure up to $350 million from new investors, amid reports that it was also preparing to file for bankruptcy in the United States.
