A man died after falling into a deep underground space while digging for gold on Tuesday.
He fell about 20 meters (66 feet) underground at around 3:42 p.m in a greenhouse in front of a house in Wonju, Gangwon, according to the police and fire authorities.

He was found at the scene unresponsive with severe injuries and was later pronounced dead.
