The trailer of Manoj Bajpayee’s upcoming film, Governor, was unveiled by the makers on Tuesday (May 26, 2026). Directed by Chinmay Mandlekar and produced by Vipul Amrutlal Shah, the film is inspired by real events and will be released in theatres on June 12.The trailer introduces Manoj as an economist, who is appointed as the RBI governor at the peak of financial crisis in the 1990s. There are glimpses of violent public outrage in reaction to the failing economy. Manoj’s character is seen taking crucial decisions to address the condition as he decides to carry out a secret mission of airlifting over 60 tonnes of gold outside the country. His radical decision sparks a wave of counter-opinion, led by Adah Sharma, who plays a journalist. The film promises to be an intriguing political-drama guided by Manoj’s restrained performance.The film is written by Suvendu Bhattacharyjee, Saurabh Bharat, Ravi Asrani, and Vipul Amrutlal Shah. It features music by Amit Trivedi and lyrics by Javed Akhtar.Governer marks Manoj’s second collaboration with Chinmay after Inspector Zende, which was released on Netflix last year.
