Nigel Farage will demand a snap general election if Sir Keir Starmer is toppled as Prime Minister, The i Paper has been told – despite pollsters warning a “Burnham bounce” could hand Labour five more years in power.
Reform is expected to question the legitimacy of the new leader, particularly if Andy Burnham successfully challenges Starmer for the leadership and replaces the 2024 Labour manifesto with a new policy agenda.
A source close to the Reform leader, referring to the fact that there have been five changes of prime minister in the last 10 years – three of them without a general election – said: “The public have had enough of prime minister musical chairs.”

Recent polling suggests a majority of voters would also want the chance to vote in a fresh election, even though it is only two years since they last went to the ballot box.
