Political corruption is eating Spain’s democratic system, warns the country’s chief anti-graft prosecutor
MADRID – Get ready for another big week when it comes to Spain’s series of escalating political corruption scandals.
David Sánchez, the brother of Pedro Sánchez, the Spanish prime minister, is due to stand trial on Thursday on influence peddling charges.
On top of that, the recent graft investigation into José Luis Rodríguez Zapatero, a former socialist prime minister, sent shockwaves across Spain. The national criminal court accuses him of leading an international influence peddling and money laundering network linked to Venezuela.
