MANILA, Philippines — The Office of the Ombudsman has intensified its legal offensive against three senators, all aligned with former President Rodrigo Duterte, securing a precautionary hold departure order (PHDO) against Sen. Rodante Marcoleta while confirming that plunder charges against Sen. Jinggoy Estrada would be filed before the Sandiganbayan on Thursday.

The plunder complaint against acting Senate Majority Leader Joel Villanueva is “already ripe” for filing within the next two weeks, according to Ombudsman Jesus Crispin Remulla.

The Sandiganbayan Seventh Division granted the Ombudsman’s petition for a PHDO against Marcoleta, former Quezon City Rep. Mike Defensor, Aristotle Baluyut Viray, and Joseph Varias Espiritu over complaints of plunder and indirect bribery linked to alleged campaign donations worth P75 million.
