Arriving in Melbourne has just got a little smoother for some Kiwi travellers as Australia extends its trial of the digital arrival card.

Eligible international passengers flying from Auckland and Queenstown into Melbourne Airport aboard selected Qantas flights can now complete their mandatory travel and biosecurity declarations digitally.

The expansion is the third phase of the Australia Travel Declaration pilot program, which first launched in Brisbane in October 2024 and expanded to Sydney in August 2025.

More than 380,000 passengers have used the digital declaration system since it began.

Initially, passengers on Qantas flights QF154 from Auckland and QF178 from Queenstown will be able to complete the declaration through the airline's app up to 72 hours before departure.
