An Ottawa man faces the threat of extradition to the U.S. after being charged with attempting to hack into the U.S. Department of Defense Information Network and millions of other devices and servers world-wide.Jacob (aka “Dort”) Butler, 23, is charged with allegedly running a botnet called “Kimwolf,” which is also known as the “KimWolf Distributed Denial of Service (DDoS) Internet of Things” (IoT) botnet, according to the U.S. Attorney’s Office.“KimWolf was a DDoS-for-hire service which infected over a million devices worldwide, including devices located in Alaska,” according to a statement by the U.S. Attorney’s Office, District of Alaska.
