The Kerala High Court on Tuesday stayed the order by the Thalassery Additional District Court-III cancelling the bail of the 17 accused in the Shuhaib murder case.The accused had earlier requested the trial court to defer the cross-examination of the witnesses in the case, until the High Court disposed of the appeal. Following this, the Thalassery trial court had cancelled their bail on Monday.The accused, including Akash Thillankery, approached the High Court contending that the order to cancel bail and to remand the accused by the trial court was unlawful. The High Court considered this contention and set aside the trial court order, stating that the order was apparently illegal.Shuhaib, a Youth Congress worker from Edayannur, was murdered in February 2018 allegedly by CPI(M) activists.
