In an initiative aimed at encouraging academic excellence among rural students, around 1,300 meritorious students from the Mandya Assembly constituency who excelled in the 2025–26 SSLC and PUC examinations will be felicitated at a large-scale talent recognition programme at the Mandya University campus on June 9.The event comes in the backdrop of Mandya district securing fifth place in the SSLC examination results and is being projected as one of the biggest student felicitation programmes in the region.The programme is being organised to encourage academic achievement and strengthen interest in education and competitive spirit among students, particularly those from rural backgrounds.Of the students being honoured, 760 are SSLC achievers, including 535 students from the South Zone and 225 students from the North Zone of the constituency. In addition, 540 students who performed well in the PUC examinations will also be felicitated during the programme.State School Education Minister Madhu Bangarappa and Mandya district in-charge Minister N. Cheluvarayaswamy are expected to participate in the event.The initiative is led by Mandya MLA P. Ravikumar Gowda and is being presented as an effort to publicly recognise student achievement while motivating future generations.Organisers said the programme also seeks to reinforce the role of education as a key driver of social progress.
