A former Minister of Transportation, Rotimi Amaechi, has emerged winner of the African Democratic Congress presidential primary in Bayelsa State, defeating former Vice President Atiku Abubakar and economist Mohammed Hayatu-Deen.
The result was contained in a statement shared on Tuesday by the African Democratic Congress shared via X, which stated that Amaechi secured a total of 44,404 votes to clinch the Bayelsa State presidential primary.
“Results of the exercise showed that Amaechi secured a total of 44,404 votes to clinch victory in the state’s presidential primary,” the statement said.
Atiku came second in the contest with “6,570 votes, while Hayatu-Deen polled 939 votes”, according to the announced figures.
