Sengottaiyan on Tuesday refuted allegations of the Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK) indulging in horse-trading and said everyone knew who attempted to become Chief Minister with the support of the DMK.Speaking to reporters at the Secretariat in Chennai, Mr. Sengottaiyan, while responding to a question on allegations of horse-trading by the TVK by inducting AIADMK MLAs who resigned their legislator posts into the party, said: “There is no horse-trading. Everyone knows who was involved in horse-trading. Who attempted to become Chief Minister with the support of the DMK? They should answer that. The MLAs resigned of their own will.”He also denied charges that as he was a former AIADMK strongman, he had played a role in AIADMK MLAs joining the TVK. “I have not played any role. The new inductees are coming and meeting me only now.”To a question on opposition parties criticising the government over law and order issues and women’s safety, he said the new government should be given some time. However, he said, Chief Minister C. Joseph Vijay had promptly taken steps on the law and order front, and the Police Department had been taking strict action. Published - May 26, 2026 06:55 pm IST
