Telangana has emerged as a ‘High Performer’ in the Logistics Ease Across Different States (LEADS) 2025 report released by the Union Ministry of Commerce and Industry, marking a significant rise from its earlier ‘Achiever’ classification in the 2024 rankings. The State has now joined the league of high-performing landlocked states such as Haryana, Chhattisgarh and Bihar, while surpassing States, including Madhya Pradesh, Punjab and Rajasthan in logistics performance indicators. The LEADS 2025 report credited Telangana’s focussed infrastructure development, multimodal logistics initiatives and industrial policy reforms for the improved ranking. Among the major projects highlighted were the Integrated Logistics Parks in Medak and Nalgonda districts, the proposed Inland Container Depot (ICD) at Nizamabad and the National Investment and Manufacturing Zone (NIMZ) at Zaheerabad.According to the report, Telangana recorded improvements in inland waterway infrastructure that were above the national average. The State’s efforts to strengthen river-based transportation through specialised port and intermodal linkage facilities across the River Krishna received special mention. The report also highlighted the government’s plans to utilise the national waterways of the Godavari, Krishna, Bheema, Manjira, Penganga-Wardha, Tungabhadra and Wainganga–Pranahita rivers for cargo movement and logistics integration. The report further assessed Telangana’s multimodal logistics ambitions, expressway connectivity and logistics ecosystem. It stated that the elevated corridors being developed by HMDA from Paradise to Shamirpet and Paradise to Suchitra junction near Kompally would significantly improve logistics movement in and around Hyderabad. The Integrated Logistics Park at Chityal in Nalgonda district, being developed with an investment of ₹750 crore, is expected to generate around 2,750 employment opportunities. The report also highlighted the proposed multimodal logistics park spread across 324 acres at Parkibanda village in Medak district as a strategically important project.Similarly, the NIMZ at Zaheerabad and the proposed greenfield approach road connecting National Highway 65 to Zaheerabad are expected to facilitate efficient freight movement along the Hyderabad-Nagpur Industrial Corridor. The LEADS report also acknowledged Telangana’s industrial policy provision mandating at least five acres of land in every upcoming industrial park for common logistics infrastructure. In the area of skill development, the report praised the Young India Skills University’s School of Logistics and E-Commerce for launching industry-linked courses with placement assistance for specialised roles such as Warehouse Executive and Key Consignor Executive. The university plans to train more than 500 students during its first year of operation. Published - May 26, 2026 07:10 pm IST
