Lithuania will host the 2028 World Junior Figure Skating Championships, the Lithuanian Skating Federation has announced.
The competition – one of the flagship events of the International Skating Union's 2027–28 season – is planned to take place at the Žalgiris Arena in Kaunas.
The announcement follows Lithuania's successful staging of the 2024 European Figure Skating Championships, also held at the Žalgiris Arena, which drew large crowds and was praised by the international skating community for its organisation.
The ISU Council introduced a new structured and transparent selection process last autumn when awarding events for the 2027–28 season, aimed at ensuring high organisational standards and the long-term development of the sport. Lithuania was confirmed as host following that process.
The World Junior Championships are open to skaters who have reached the age of 13 but not yet turned 19 (in the men's and women's singles categories), 21 (in ice dance and pairs for women), or 23 (in pairs for men) by July 1 of the relevant season.
