But being in a relationship is hard anyway.“I think when you're in a relationship it's hard work. We've got three kids, we've got busy lives. Sometimes I fancy the pants off him and can’t wait to come home to see him. Sometimes I'm like 'get out of my stratosphere - stay away from me'.“I think we're just like any other couple. Being in the public eye I think creates certain pressures, but not on our relationship because half the time what they're saying, if we know it's not true, who cares.“Who cares if the whole world is like 'Oh, they're on the brink of divorce'? “The former X Factor star said the couple’s Stacey & Joe reality show put their domestic life under the public microscope – with the pair sometimes regretting what was caught on camera - but she said their experiences were like those of any normal family.Opening up to Dilly, the tidying expert who stars with Stacey on the BBC’s Sort Your Life Out show, the Essex star said: "Sometimes we'd forget the cameras were there and think 'Oh God'.“We live in extreme privilege, especially when we think about how we both grew up, in that case we're not normal. But in every other way there's nothing interesting.“Even when they said 'we'd love to do a documentary about you and your lives’, me and Joe were like 'we are boring, we are the most mundane celebrities you will ever meet, there's nothing exciting about us’.“We're not going to go to fancy events, we're just going to go home, clean up duck poo, and argue with each other about beans on a sofa.”Stacey first captured the nation’s hearts on X Factor in 2009, before going on to win I’m A Celebrity the following year in the Australian jungle, where she first met Joe, 45.He was presenting the show’s spin-off series and was one of the first people to greet Stacey as she emerged from camp after her win.But while for Joe there was an instant attraction, Stacey admits he made no impact on her, and she can’t remember their meeting at all.Speaking about when their paths first crossed, Stacey said she found Joe’s recollection of every detail “stalkerish”.She told Dilly’s Sort Your Life Out Unpacked podcast: "I don't even remember - and he remembers that day vividly.“He's like 'you stank'. He remembers everything I said in the interview, he remembers what I looked like, where I was going, who I was with. I don't remember any of it, which is so bizarre to me. I was like 'it's a bit stalkerish Joe, to be honest with you'."Asked if it was love at first sight for former EastEnders actor Joe, Stacey said: “Yeah. And then like three years later we ended up together.“When I say I don't remember meeting him or that day, and he remembers it all, it does worry me slightly. I mean three kids later.”After that introduction it was to take several years before romance blossomed, before the couple went on to get married in 2022. Now they share their three children together, Rex, now seven, Rose, four, and Belle, three. In addition, their family includes Zach, 18, who Stacey shares with ex-partner Dean Cox, Leighton, 14, from her relationship with ex-fiance Aaron Barnham, and Harry, 19, from Joe’s past relationship with Emma Sophocleous.Article continues belowStacey’s full interview with Dilly can be heard on Tuesday’s Sort Your Life Out Unpacked podcast on BBC Sounds, BBC iPlayer and YouTube.
