adsEcoSmart Club, a youth-focused environmental organisation, has unveiled plans to mobilise secondary school students across Nigeria for a week-long climate action campaign to highlight environmental awareness through practical community interventions.

The initiative, tagged National School Climate Action Week, is scheduled to hold from June 1 to 6, 2026, in commemoration of World Environment Day. Participating schools are expected to undertake projects centred on recycling, waste management, and sustainability advocacy within their communities.

The programme is designed to move climate education beyond classroom discussions into practical action, with students documenting their activities through photographs and short videos. These will be curated into daily “School Spotlights” showcasing youth-driven environmental solutions.

Hannah Omokhaye, founder of the club, said the initiative was conceived to transform climate engagement from mere awareness to hands-on action capable of influencing behaviour at the community level.

According to her, the intervention is also aimed at nurturing environmentally conscious citizens and future leaders through sustained exposure to real-life environmental challenges.adsads
