Controversial Islamic cleric, Ahmed Gumi, has denied allegations linking him to insecurity in Nigeria, insisting that his engagements with armed groups were aimed at finding peaceful solutions to the country’s security challenges.

Gumi spoke in AIT Television after he was reportedly turned back from Saudi Arabia despite securing a valid Hajj visa from the Saudi consulate in Abuja.

The cleric said he travelled to Saudi Arabia for Hajj but was stopped at Madinah airport after immigration officials informed him that his name did not appear in their system.

Speaking on the allegations against him, Gumi said, “So I'm here to explain to you that I have no association. I don't have any hands.”
