Google’s Nuvem subsea cable linking the US and Portugal has landed in South Carolina.
Subsea cable company Subcom this month announced that Nuvem had made landfall at Myrtle Beach in South Carolina. DC Blox operates the cable landing station (CLS) hosting Nuvem.
“Congratulations to all teams involved in the successful Nuvem landing in Myrtle Beach, SC, USA,” Subcom said on LinkedIn. “SubCom is proud to support Google as the supply partner for the Nuvem subsea cable system.”
The search and cloud company first announced plans for Nuvem – the Portuguese word for cloud – in September 2023. The ~7,000km (4,349 miles) cable will feature 16 fiber pairs and offer a total of 384Tbps. It is due to enter service later this year.
