The Bitcoin Cash community activated the Layla Upgrade, introducing the Turing-complete CashVM scripting language and expanding Layer 1 decentralized finance capabilities through features including bounded loops, functions, bitwise operations, and pay-to-script functionality.
The upgrade adds post-quantum security support through Quantumroot technology, with wallets such as OPTN Labs and Paytaca supporting quantum-resistant storage for BCH, CashTokens, and DeFi assets on Android and iOS devices.
The rollout enables new on-chain applications including decentralized exchanges, perpetual futures trading, prediction markets, stablecoin lending, and AI agent micropayments using the x402 payment protocol on the Bitcoin Cash network.
